Races in Life

Mood

I am so dead, today have to MC...

Running was never something I aim to do or even want to try. It was one of those go with the flow thing that just happened. Suddenly I had completed 4 runs. Cliche as it is, this is how I always view life, just take what comes, make lemonade when you have lemons.

All my numbers also 'boh ong' one...

I had my last run of the year yesterday. It was a change of scenery because the previous runs are all around Changi. This run was around town and you get to see the Eye and the Merlion. Unfortunately, this is the first time I ran with sore thighs (from Spinning and sandcastle previous days). As I was running along the highway, I can't help but think races are just like life. Don't ask why the sudden revelation. It just happened, maybe cause the brain was oxygen deprived and start hallucinating but yeah, races are just like life.

We start somewhere and will end somewhere eventually. You can start with a walk, jog, fast trot even run. You will overtake those slower than you and you will be overtaken by someone faster than you. There will always be someone faster than you and there will always be someone slower than you. You can envy all you want but if you don't do something about it, it will just remain an unpleasant emotion. And you gotta be careful that people slower than you might not always end up slower than you. They might overtake you if you remain at constant speed. Know thy physic law. Constant speed means no acceleration. Someone who accelerates just a little bit will overtake you eventually. So you must always check your speed. Just any technology in the market, new now, old news in 3 months.

Pink ribbon run

When you see someone zoom past you, you think, 'damn I wish I am that fast,'. Unfortunately, there are no shortcuts in runs. You want to run fast, you gotta train for the stamina and the energy. Sure, some are born with longer limbs but without the proper training, it will just be waste. Just like there are people born rich but without the proper training to sustain the wealth, it will just be squandered away. You want to be rich, you gotta work for it. Even prostitutes have to work ok.

I like to run down slopes because it took less energy, Moo walk down slopes because it pains her knees. I can't really run up slope because my thighs hurt and I ran out of breath. Moo runs up hill because she finds it easy. Things that are advantage to your might be a disadvantage to others. Learn to know what are your advantages and use them wisely. I always run down the slopes to catch up when I have to slowly climb the next uphill slope.

In a run, it is so very easy to give up after 2-3km. You gotta constantly motivate your self, perseverance, patience and belief that you will eventually be there if you keep it up. You can walk now and then but always remember to pick up the speed when you have rested. Some will just continue to walk all the way. Sure, you will reach the end but other who reached earlier than you have probably took all the free milo and ice cream. You fine with that? Ok lor...

There is nothing more rewarding that seeing the end of the line after 1.00 hour ++ of running plus jogging plus walking. Somehow you can find the energy for an added burst of speed. Gone where the pant, the soreness of limbs. There is just one goal in sight- water and yeah the end of the run. After that, you will think " That is not so hard after all."

I still took about 1 hour 30 minutes to complete all my runs but I got clever, I ask those who complete to take the freebies for me next time.. HA HA HA.

Jeje, very agree with you. When ever i do jogging, i always had this feeling that life is on the road, running, walking, standing and etc....
but remember that you never run alone. Family and friends are there with you.

I'm proud of you. 4 marathon run, in a year.
